The SHS Alumni Network was initiated by Aakriti Chandihok and Caroline Mokrejs, two active SHS Alumni. As former participants of the International Summer Program they were fascinated by the vivid spirit of the Sommerhochschule campus. It was the experience of meeting interesting people from different countries as well as getting academically and socially in touch with the European idea, which encouraged them to initiate this alumni network.
Together with the Sommerhochschule the idea of an electronic platform for former participants was born and put into practice.
Aakriti Chandihok participated in the International Summer Program 2006 after her first year of law studies and was truly fascinated by the “unique spirit which catches the students as soon as they step on to the SHS campus”. Not only interacting with students and young professionals from all over Europe and abroad but also the highly interesting and diverse academic program on European Studies enlightened her interest in the European Union. As a consequence thereof she has further specialized in this area and is currently writing her doctoral thesis in this field of law, while working as a research fellow at the University of Vienna.
Caroline Mokrejs participated in 2008 shortly after her graduation in law in the course of a specialization in European Law. The broad variety of courses offered beside the field of law piqued her interest to know more about subjects like political science, economics, and history as well. But not only these academic offers encouraged her to “internationalize” her education but the interaction with students from different countries and cultures, interested in the same subjects. She is currently writing a doctoral thesis and working as a research assistant at the University of Vienna.
